Drayton Park Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course with a par 3 section, opened in 1993 and designed by Hawtree. Located in Abingdon with convenient access from the A34, the course occupies 90 acres of mature landscape. The design features large, undulating greens and flat terrain that facilitates walking while allowing views of the surrounding wildlife. Key characteristics include Ginge Brook running through the course, four lakes positioned alongside fairways, and 55 bunkers strategically protecting greens and landing areas. These water hazards and bunker placements present a substantial challenge to golfers, rewarding accurate play. The course has developed significantly since its establishment by the late Michael F McKenna, who founded the club; it remains family-owned and operated. The combination of natural water features, extensive bunkering, and well-maintained greens creates a moderately challenging layout suitable for golfers of varying abilities.
