The Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course is a 9-hole course featuring 3,001 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35, redesigned by R. Clyde Johnston and reopened in 2010. Located in South End just minutes from uptown Charlotte, the course features views of the city skyline and Bermuda grass from tee to green. The layout includes a cluster of holes side by side with woods and hazards in play, greens with tricky slopes and tiers, and a signature 9th hole that is a par 5 with danger off the tee and an uphill approach to a perched green.
Originally built in the 1930s as Bonnie Brae Golf Course and designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as an 18-hole layout, the course was reduced to 9 holes in the 1970s during the construction of I-77. In 2010, it was renamed to honor Dr. Charles Sifford, the first African American to earn a PGA Tour card. An expansive driving range and practice area are located onsite.
