Double Eagle Club is an 18-hole private course in Galena, Ohio, featuring 7,140 yards from the longest tees with a par of 72, designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and opened in 1992. The course has a rating of 74.8 and a slope rating of 140 on bentgrass. The course sprawls across 350 acres of lush, rolling terrain, weaving in and out of grassy meadows and forests, with the diversity of the landscape providing interesting challenges throughout.
A 30-foot ravine is incorporated into seven holes on the front nine, while the back nine culminates in holes routed adjacent to a huge natural lake, with stands of mature hardwood trees providing a sense of isolation on each hole, and split fairways on four holes taking advantage of the open expanses of land. Water hazards are scattered throughout as well as nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The notable par-4 17th hole, at 340 yards, offers a risk-reward opportunity for big hitters. The course ends with a par-5 stretching to 560 yards, with a marshy hazard traversing the second landing area and the green set diagonally over a steep bunker.
