Designed by Ellis Maples, this 18-hole course is the highest golf course in Virginia. Located at an elevation of over 3,800 feet, it is characterized by narrow fairways, speedy greens, and unsurpassed mountain vistas. Perched atop the Blue Ridge Mountains at 3,850 feet elevation, the course provides majestic 50-mile views of the Shenandoah and Rockfish Valleys. Though relatively short in length, the course demands accuracy, with tight doglegs, sloped fairways, and devilishly sloped greens creating a challenge throughout.
The thin air at the course's high elevation provides extra carry on most golf shots, while the altitude creates cooler mid-day temperatures typically in the 70s and 80s. It is typically 12-18 degrees cooler than its sister course, Stoney Creek, providing Virginia's coolest playing conditions throughout the summer and the most dramatic mountain foliage backdrop in the fall. The course is ranked as one of Virginia's best.
