Community Golf Club is a 36-hole public municipal golf facility located at 2917 Berkley Street in Dayton, Ohio. The course was established in 1918 on land donated to the city by John H. Patterson. It consists of two 18-hole courses: The Hills Course and The Dales Course. The Hills Course features rolling terrain with many elevated tees and measures 6,304 yards with a slope rating of 126, making it more challenging than its counterpart. The Dales Course plays around 5,300 yards with a slope rating of 107, offering interesting terrain with water features on multiple holes.
The Hills Course hosted the third U.S. Amateur Public Links championship in 1924, a significant tournament in amateur golf history. Both courses were designed by Alex Campbell. The facility includes a natural grass driving range, practice putting green, and bunker practice areas. A restaurant, known as the 19th Hole, is located on-site for dining after rounds.
The golf club serves as one of Dayton's most historic and remaining public golf facilities, accessible to all golfers regardless of membership status. The courses present challenges for golfers of all skill levels and have been subject to ongoing maintenance and improvements by the City of Dayton in recent years.
