The Creek Course at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, North Carolina opened for play in 1979. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The 18-hole Creek Course features dramatic elevation changes, rolling terrain, and a meandering creek interspersed among the holes. The narrow fairways are Bermuda grass with the greens featuring Mini Verde Bermuda. Each hole provides five sets of tees—Black, Blue, White, Gold, and Red—for players of all skill levels, with the Black tees sloped at 132 and the Red tees at 124.
The 3rd hole of the Creek Course was the only hole in North Carolina to be included in Golf Course Home Magazine's 'Dream Residential 18 Golf Holes.' Other notable holes on the Creek Course are the 4th, 15th, and 16th holes, which require careful navigation of the streams and ponds. The course is part of a private golf community and is complemented by the Lake Course, together comprising 36 holes of classical Robert Trent Jones design.
