Copper Rock Golf Course is an impressive 18-hole championship course with a par of 72, stretching over 7,227 yards. The course officially opened in late February 2020 and is located within the Hurricane city limits, approximately nine miles east of the Sand Hollow Resort Championship Course. Designed by Gordon Zitting and his team, Copper Rock offers a challenging yet enjoyable layout for golfers of all skill levels. The layout features a relatively flat, desert golf-like front nine that transitions to a tree-lined elevated back nine featuring the par 3 17th hole with nearly a 100-foot drop from tee to green.
Hole 6, known as Shipwreck, is a 329-yard par 4 where a pond frames the left side of the hole. Accuracy is rewarded here, especially if you can keep the ball on the left half of the fairway where your angle into the green is superior as the putting surface slopes back towards the water, plus it keeps the bunkers out of play on the right. The signature 17th hole (SkyDive) is a 134-yard par 3 offering the most impressive views found at Copper Rock from the high point of the course, with the green creating the foreground and desert mountain landscape in the background.
From dramatic elevation changes to signature desert vistas, Copper Rock is designed to be challenging, rewarding, and repeatable. The course hosts some of the best female golfers from all over the world in an annual home championship.
