Cherokee Golf Course, founded in 1895, is one of the oldest municipal golf courses in the United States and the oldest public golf course in Louisville, Kentucky. The course features a hilly layout with two lake holes, making it the shortest of the Metro Parks courses in the system. Its compact design provides an excellent opportunity for golfers to improve their short-iron game through strategic play around the undulating terrain and water hazards.

The facility includes a fully stocked Pro Shop, snack bar, and a large practice putting green for player preparation. Additional amenities feature a picnic area available for outings and tournaments of various sizes. Adjacent to the course are a fishing lake and playground area, making it a family-friendly destination. The combination of historic significance dating back over a century and its challenging short-game emphasis positions Cherokee as a distinctive venue within Louisville's municipal golf offerings.
