Hakone Country Club is a 7,154-yard, par-72 championship golf course located in the Hakone area of Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Designed by Shiro Akane and constructed by Shimizu Construction, the course opened in July 1954. The layout covers 880,000 square meters and is situated within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The terrain is characterized by a bowl-shaped basin at the bottom of a diameter of 8 kilometers, surrounded by steep mountains including Mount Myojin, Mount Kintoki, and Mount Sanbo. The course offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, featuring a mix of old and new volcanic mountains. The setting is noted for its natural environment, where native grasses and small birds are common sights, and wildlife such as squirrels, rabbits, and tanuki can occasionally be seen. The club operates as a members-only facility, requiring introductions for play, and provides various amenities including a restaurant and lodging facilities. The yardage for the course varies by tee box, with the back tees measuring 7,154 yards and the front tees measuring 6,468 yards. The course rating and slope vary depending on the tee selection, with the men's course rating from the back tees at 73.4 and the slope rating at 136. The club hosts numerous internal tournaments throughout the year, including the Grand Senior Championship and the Club Championship, as well as various monthly cups and events for members.
