Hongo Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course located in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Designed by architect Midorizo Asami and opened on July 23, 1977, the course spans 6,837 yards and is characterized by hilly terrain. The layout is constructed with Bentgrass greens, which contribute to the course's specific rating metrics, including a Greens Rating of 71.5 for the A Greens and 70.3 for the B Greens from the regular tees. The design philosophy emphasizes a distinction between the outbound and inbound nine holes. The outbound course is intended to be grand, while the inbound course focuses on precision. This structure allows players to navigate varied challenges, with the course featuring scattered ponds that require strategic shot-making, including situations where players must carry water hazards in one or two shots. The fairways are generally wide, and the overall difficulty is categorized as easy, making it suitable for casual play, which accounts for the majority of recommended play purposes according to customer feedback. Key facilities on the property include a driving range with 13 bays extending 220 yards, a restaurant, and a bathhouse. The course supports self-play with passenger carts that are permitted on the fairways, subject to weather and course conditions. Navigation aids are available via GPS devices that measure distance to the pin and input scores. The course also features three on-course toilets and two vending machine locations at the sixth hole on the outbound nine and the fourteenth hole on the inbound nine.
