Located in Kobe, Hyogo, the Kobe Country Club course is a 18-hole championship layout designed by Jack Nicklaus. The course features a total par of 72, with the front nine playing to a par of 36 and the back nine also set at 36. Nicklaus applied his signature design philosophy, which emphasizes strategic play while preserving the natural landscape, drawing on his experience with world-renowned courses. The fairways are maintained with Tifton 419 grass, providing a firm and fast playing surface that complements the strategic demands of the layout. The front nine presents a mix of demanding par fours and accessible par fives. The fifth hole, a par 4 with a handicap of 1, requires a precise approach to a green protected by water on the right. The eighth hole, a par 3 recommended for proximity shots, features significant elevation changes and is guarded by a large pond and beach bunkers. The ninth hole offers panoramic views and challenges players with a potential carry over water depending on pin placement. The back nine begins with the tenth, a par 4 where the left side of the fairway is the preferred landing area to avoid bunkers and out-of-bounds areas. The twelfth hole is a demanding par 3 with out-of-bounds to the left and water to the right, requiring accurate shot-making. The signature holes of the course include the fourteenth hole, a long par 5 that serves as a driving distance recommendation. This hole features a narrow landing zone on the second shot due to a valley on the right side. The eighteenth hole, another par 5 recommended for driving distance, requires players to navigate out-of-bounds on the left and avoid water at the rear of the green. The seventeenth hole, a par 4 with a handicap of 2, is a challenging test where players must avoid a creek and navigate around water and bunkers surrounding the green. The course utilizes four sets of tees—Black, Blue, White, and Red—allowing for varying yardages and difficulty levels to accommodate different skill sets.
