Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the Cacapon Resort State Park golf course was established in 1974. The course offers 6,827 yards of golf for a par of 72 and offers four tees to challenge all skill-level golfers. Rated as one of the 130 best-designed courses in the United States, the Cacapon course features 73 well-placed sand bunkers. At 2,300 feet, the challenging championship golf course makes prime use of the rolling foothills at the base of the ridge.
A highlight of the course, par 3's hole four and hole eight share a 110-yard double green. There are three ponds on the course which come into play on four holes, and the course has several other water hazards in the form of small streams coming from the mountain side. The course is situated in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle near Berkeley Springs, set in a mountainous terrain that provides scenic elevation changes, particularly on the back nine.
The course is open year-round (weather permitting) and a variety of mid-week and off-season packages are available. A full-time PGA golf pro and a part-time LPGA teaching professional are on duty and available for both group and private lessons.
