Buenaventura Golf Course is a municipal course located in Ventura, California, situated one hour north of Los Angeles in a beachside community with year-round temperate weather. Originally designed by William Bell and opened in 1932, the course underwent a comprehensive $6.5 million renovation led by Forrest Richardson in 2004, including complete re-routing and new playing surfaces, reopening in March 2005.

The course features large bent grass greens paired with emerald fairways, characterized by subtle undulations and classic Bell design elements. White sand bunkers border the greens, while mature trees line the fairways, enhancing the parkland aesthetic. In 2012, platinum paspalum fairways were added to improve playability and turf consistency.

The redesigned course emphasizes strategy, playability, safety, and variety, with hazards integrated naturally into the landscape rather than appearing artificially constructed. Buenaventura is recognized as one of the finest municipal courses in Southern California, offering a balanced combination of classic golf design and modern course conditions.
