Brookside Country Club was designed by Donald Ross in 1922 and is among the top-ranked courses in Ohio. The club was inaugurated following its move to Canton from the Myers Lake area when it was called the Lakeside Country Club, with Ross commissioned to design the new 18-hole course which opened in 1922. After a Robert Trent Jones upgrade in 1962, Brian Silva was hired in 2003 to restore the layout and recapture the essence of the original architecture, resulting in larger greens, sculpted fairways and authentic routing.
The course is forgiving off the tee but is quite challenging around the greens, which are bold and exceptionally undulating. Prominent holes include par threes at the 222-yard 4th, where the green sits beside the Sippo Creek, and the heavily sand-protected 142-yard 14th. It has been ranked in the Top 10 in Ohio from 1993-95, 2001, and since 2005, currently ranking 9th.
