Black Lake Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course designed by renowned architect Rees Jones, located in Onaway, Michigan. Set on 1,100 acres, the course plays between 5,058 and 7,030 yards with a par of 72, offering five tee sets to accommodate varying skill levels. The landscape features winding lakes, marshes, ravines, and dense maple and birch forests, with the design incorporating natural elements including cranberry bogs and a sand quarry.
The course is known for its scenic beauty, with every hole considered picture-perfect rather than relying on just a few signature holes. Difficulty varies across the layout, with par-5s ranging from 515 to 590 yards and strategic use of water hazards and elevation changes. Black Lake has received numerous accolades including Golf Magazine's #6 Best Course in Michigan and Golf Digest's #34 ranking among America's 100 Greatest Public Courses.
Complementing the championship course is The Little Course, a nine-hole par-3 offering. The facility includes extensive practice amenities: a 350-yard double-sided driving range, four chipping and putting greens, and practice bunkers. PGA professionals provide instruction, and a clubhouse with dining facilities and locker rooms complete the offering.
