Course Information

Address:
Basel-Landschaft
Switzerland

Located in Zwingen in the Laufental valley, just twenty minutes from Basel, BIRS-Golf is a nine-hole course situated directly on the left bank of the Birs river. The facility serves as the home ground for the Golf Club Laufental, which was founded in 2003 and realized its own course on this site in 2011, with the official opening taking place on May 6, 2012. The course is described as compact yet demanding, designed to allow players to improve their handicap daily in a setting that is integrated into the surrounding nature. The layout is supported by extensive practice facilities, including a modern driving range with a double-deck tee house offering drive lengths up to 250 meters and a second tee for short to mid-iron shots up to 130 meters. A 1,000-square-meter putting and chipping green, along with a pitching area featuring practice bunkers and a target green, provides comprehensive training options. The course is open daily, with the golf reception operating from 9:00 to 18:00, and the facility includes changing rooms, showers, and a public bistro, the Drop-Inn, with a large sun terrace overlooking the course. Tournament activity at the course includes regular ASGI (Association Suisse des Golfeurs Indépendants) after-work events for all handicap levels, as well as monthly prize tournaments for members and friends. The club also hosts junior events, such as the Regio Liga tournaments, and participates in broader competitions like the Coupe Helvétique and Swiss Mid-Amateur series. The course is accessible to guests and members of partner clubs, including Golfclub Rickenbach, Golfclub Markgräflerland, Golf du Rhin, and Weid Hauenstein.
