Bergen Golf Course

Established in 1915, Bergen Golf Course is a nine-hole course built on former farmland that maintains lush green conditions. Designed by E. Lawrence Packard, the course features eight par fours and one par three, with a par of 35. The layout plays to 2,657 yards from the white tees and 2,467 yards from the red tees, making it accessible for golfers of all abilities.

The course is distinguished by its absence of bunkers and water hazards, creating a forgiving layout that emphasizes accuracy over power. Tree-lined fairways and smaller greens require precision shot-making despite the lack of traditional hazards. Located at 2900 Clear Lake Avenue in Springfield, Illinois, Bergen offers a straightforward, playable design suitable for recreational golfers. The course features amenities including a practice green, snack bar, and rental equipment. The course record of 27 was set by Dale Scholfield in 1959.
