The Aso Resort Grand Vrio Hotel Golf Course is a 36-hole facility located in Aso, Kumamoto, Japan, designed by Arnold Palmer. The course is divided into two distinct 18-hole layouts: the East Course and the West Course. The East Course is characterized by strategic play involving uphill and downhill shots, while the West Course is noted for its longer distance and more challenging water hazards. The East Course features undulating fairways designed to confuse players and offers the option for simultaneous out-and-in starts, making it suitable for large competitions. It includes a lunch break, allowing for a more leisurely round. In contrast, the West Course is a through-play layout without a lunch break, facilitating a faster pace of play. This course allows fairway access for carts and is equipped with two-person carts, catering to couples and beginners. The facility has hosted professional golf tournaments, including the Mitsubishi Gallant Tournament on the Japan Men's Professional Golf Tour in 1995. It also hosted the Route Inn Cup Aso Grand Vrio Ladies tournament on the Japan LPGA Tour in 2010, 2011, and 2012, as well as the Legends Championship Route Inn Cup in 2014. The course is situated at the foot of Mount Aso, offering views of the Aso outer ring mountains.
