Ardminnan Golf Club is a 9-hole parkland course located in Portaferry on the lower Ards Peninsula in County Down, holding the distinction of being the most easterly golf course on the island of Ireland. The course measures approximately 6,048 yards with a par of 70 and was professionally designed by Frank Ainsworth, who also supervised its construction. The course opened to the public in 1995 and spans around 45 acres.
The layout features two gradual hills and includes a river with two ponds that come into play on six of the holes, providing moderate challenge for golfers of varying skill levels. The course is situated in an area of natural beauty close to the sea adjacent to Silver Bay Caravan Park, with scenic views overlooking the Irish Sea and Cloughey Beach. The parkland setting combines challenging water hazards with well-maintained fairways and greens.
The club welcomes visitors on request and offers amenities including a fully licensed bar and restaurant, club and trolley hire, and professional tuition. The course is accessible to golfers of all handicap levels with no certificate requirements, making it a popular stop for both local rounds and visitors exploring the Ards Peninsula region.
