Alpine Golf Resort is a 27-hole championship facility located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, situated approximately 25 kilometers east of the city center and a 30-minute drive from the airport. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole layouts: Course A, Course B, and Course C. The design is a collaborative effort by Ron M. Garl, who received the Best Renovate Award in 2007, and Thai architect Pirapon Nontrattan. The resort maintains green speeds of at least 10 feet on the stimpmeter, ensuring a standard of play suitable for international competition. Course A, named Sunrise Ridge, is characterized by elevated tees and fairways that offer views of the clubhouse. It features a mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, with holes like A4 and A7 providing par 5 challenges that require strategic placement to avoid water hazards. Course B, known as Echo Valley, presents a more confined experience with narrow fairways lined by dense trees and mountains. This layout demands precision, featuring significant water hazards on holes such as B3 and B6, and undulating greens that require careful approach shots. Course C, titled The Wetlands, is built on the site of former rice fields and introduces a different set of challenges through varied slopes and numerous water hazards. The terrain tests both technical skill and emotional control, with the design integrating the natural landscape to create a unique playing environment. Together, the three courses provide a diverse golfing experience, ranging from open ridge-top views to enclosed valley layouts and wetland challenges. The facility has been recognized with several accolades, including the Asian Tour Award for Best Golf Resort in 2013 and 2014, and was ranked among the Asia Top 10 Best Golf Resorts in 2014. It also appeared in Golf Digest’s ranking of the best golf courses in 206 countries in 2016. Beyond the golf courses, the resort offers a 78-room hotel, a clubhouse, spa, and various sports facilities, including a football field and a sports camp, catering to both golfers and general resort guests.
