The Ladies Greensomes Open takes place at Swanston Golf Course on Saturday 12 September 2026. The event is open to female amateur golfers who are members of a recognised course-owning golf club and hold a WHS handicap. The competition is played as a strokeplay Greensomes format (foursomes with a modified best-ball approach) over one round. The maximum playing handicap is 36; players with a handicap higher than 36 may enter but will play off a maximum of 36. Team handicap is calculated as 60% of the lower handicap plus 40% of the higher handicap. The entry fee is £24 per pair. Reception begins at 09:30 with the first tee-off at 10:00. Prizes include the Swanston Ladies Greensomes Open Trophy for the lowest net score and a Scratch Trophy for the best scratch score. In the event of a tie, vouchers are split equally, with tie-breakers determined by the back 9, back 6, back 3, and a final count-back to the 18th hole. Entries must be made online via the club website, where participants can select their tee time and pay the entry fee. Note that a 20% deduction applies to prize money for 'Open Golf' (independent) members.

Swanston Golf Course

Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland

Swanston Golf Club was founded in 1927 as a ladies-only course and extended to 18 holes in 1928. The course underwent significant redesign in 2006-2009 with seven new holes opening in March 2009. In April 2016, two of the best holes from the defunct Lothianburn Golf Course were incorporated into the layout, further improving the 18-hole course design. Located in Edinburgh at Swanston Road, the course is set in the Pentland Hills area with distinctive Scottish moorland terrain and panoramic views. The facility features a challenging 18-hole championship course alongside a 9-hole Par 3 Templar Course designed for practice and shorter play. The club offers comprehensive facilities including a driving range, practice chipping and putting areas, and the Swanston Golf Academy with 18 covered and grass bays. The venue also houses one of the UK's premier golf club fitting studios managed by Scott Gourlay Golf Technology (SGGT). The clubhouse was renovated in 2007, and the course accommodates members, juniors, and visitors through organized competitions and open events throughout the year. The layout presents moderate to challenging difficulty with varied terrain typical of Edinburgh's moorland courses.
