The Open Competition is a weekly individual stableford event held at Caledonian Golf Club every Friday (excluding Japanese public holidays). The competition uses the New Peria scoring method with no handicap limit. All golfers are welcome to enter, and single players can register. Participants may choose from Red, White, or Blue tees. Prizes are awarded for 1st through 3rd place, fly-away prize, best ball prize, and lowest putts count (1st through 3rd). A rules study session is held during the party. Entry for guests costs 24,000 yen during B season (March and September), which includes caddie, party fee, and merchandise. Members pay the regular green fee plus a 1,500 yen entry fee. Caledonian Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course designed by renowned architect J. Michael Pohlert, located in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The course stretches 7,144 yards with a par of 72 and features a course rating of 74.1. The design philosophy centers on Scottish links principles combined with American modern refinement, creating what Pohlert describes as a strategic course where no two holes are alike. Each hole is individually distinctive yet harmoniously connected, likened to a symphony. The course employs bent grass greens and is set on spacious grounds that reveal strategic depth in its layout. Characterized as a strategic design course, Caledonian accommodates golfers of varying skill levels, allowing each to experience golf's essence according to their abilities. The course offers beautiful panoramic views that change seasonally throughout the year. Supporting facilities include a 320-yard driving range with 23 bays, approach practice areas, and bunker practice zones. The course opened in 1990 and maintains its commitment to traditional golf culture alongside modern amenities including an on-site restaurant and accommodation facility.
