The Ben Williams Trophy Junior Open is an individual competition for golfers under 18 as of 1 January 2027. Players are allocated tees based on handicap: White tees for handicaps up to 20, Yellow tees for handicaps 21-36, and Blue tees for handicaps 36-54. The event includes Nearest to Pin challenges and a post-round meal. Entry is open to visitors at £15.00 (members £12.50). Whitchurch Golf Club lies three and a half miles north of Cardiff city centre on elevated ground with panoramic views overlooking the city, Penarth Head, Somerset Coast, and Bristol Channel. The course is sheltered to the north by the Wenallt Hills, with the historic 13th-century Castell Coch providing a picturesque backdrop. Founded in 1914, Whitchurch has developed into a respected parkland layout noted for its challenging Par 3 and Par 4 holes. The course features fast, tricky greens and strategic bunkering designed to penalise wayward shots. The amateur course record stands at 63, while the professional record of 62 is held by Ian Woosnam. The course is consistently maintained to high standards and offers excellent facilities including a clubhouse, pro shop, and practice areas. Visitors and societies are welcomed, and the venue regularly hosts open competitions and corporate events throughout the year.
