A weekly 9-hole handicapped golf competition held on Thursdays at Nagambie Golf Club. The event is open to both members and non-members (visitors welcome). Players must compete in pairs or more. The competition can be played at any time during the day prior to 7pm. The entry fee is $3.00 AUD per entry. The competition book is housed in the green fees box for registration. This social competition is informally known as the 'Chookrun' or 'Chicken Run' because the winner receives a voucher to purchase a chicken from one of the local food providers. Nagambie Golf Club is an 18-hole course with a par of 72. The club has been at its current location since 1996, and the development of the course at its current location allowed the club to create an all year round greens course. The club is run by volunteers and community members. Located in the beautiful Nagambie Lakes area, just over an hour from Melbourne, the course offers a friendly and casual environment for any golfer. The course features a gently undulating layout along the Hume and Goulburn Valley highways with the picturesque Strathbogie ranges in the background. The course consists of bentgrass greens. The golf club has been at its current location since 1996, with the site purchased using debenture loans from members and the wider community. The course provides practice facilities and clubhouse amenities for members and visiting golfers.
