The Critérium du GPP 2026 is a 72-hole individual strokeplay competition held at Pau Golf Club from July 25 to 28, 2026. It features separate series for men (handicap index 4.5 to 18, field limited to 105 players) and ladies (handicap index 8.5 to 20, field limited to 39 players). There is a cut after 36 holes, with final ranking based on the gross total of all four rounds. Entries are open to amateur golfers licensed with the FFGolf or an recognized foreign federation, with a federal game fee of 40€. Entry fee for adults is 130€ (65€ for members, 65€ for licensed youth aged 19-24, 50€ for youth 18 and under). Registration closes on July 16 at midnight via phone or email. A free training day is available on July 24 for the Critérium. Prize money is awarded to the top three finishers in each series. Dress code is correct attire required; jeans and t-shirts are prohibited.

Pau Golf Club is the oldest golf course on the European continent, established in 1856 in Billère, near the château de Pau and along the banks of the gave de Pau river. It was the first course designed in continental Europe and the fourth golf club worldwide outside Great Britain, following Charleston (1786), Calcutta (1829), and Bombay (1842). Located in the distinctive "saligue" landscape—a Béarnaise term for the marshy vegetation typical of the gave de Pau—the course is set within a protected wetland environment rich in biodiversity and migratory bird populations. The club's Victorian-style clubhouse reflects its strong Anglo-Saxon heritage, shaped by early British and later American communities. The course itself is described as unique and meticulously maintained by recognized professionals. The club operates with approximately 700 members and has developed a strong competitive tradition, fostering young talent through its PGC Academy. Notable for its integration with local sporting culture, Pau Golf Club has contributed significantly to the city's reputation as "Pau, Queen of Sports." The facility includes dining options, a pro shop, and event hosting capabilities, combining historic heritage with contemporary golf amenities.
