Hakone Kurakake Golf Course

足柄下郡, Japan

Located at an elevation of 935 meters on the Hakone Pass, Hakone Kurakake Golf Course is a 935-meter-high hillside course straddling the border between Shizuoka and Kanagawa Prefectures. The 18-hole layout is divided into an OUT course that runs through Shizuoka and an IN course that extends into Kanagawa, with each hole designed to offer an open, expansive feel. The course sits at the top of the Hakone Pass, where the New Hakone Road, Lake Ashinoko Skyline, and National Route 1 converge, providing a cool environment that remains comfortable for play even in summer. The design prioritizes accessibility and scenic views, featuring flat and wide fairways that make the course approachable for beginners and female golfers. The IN course is characterized by moderate ups and downs and varied layouts that add strategic depth, while the OUT course offers a refreshing start with views of Mount Fuji. The setting allows players to enjoy panoramic vistas of Mount Fuji, Lake Ashinoko, and the Suruga Bay from the clubhouse and various points on the course. Accessibility from the Tokyo metropolitan area is a key feature, with the course located just one minute from the Hakone Pass Interchange. The facility supports solo play and hosts open competitions such as the Yuzuriha Cup. The clubhouse provides amenities including a restaurant, pro shop, and public bath, all offering views of the surrounding landscape, ensuring a comprehensive golfing experience in the high-altitude environment.
