The Summer Special Tournament Sanko Cup (夏の特別大会 サンコーカップ) is an open individual competition held at Sanko 72 Country Club on July 30, 2026. This is a special 18-hole event (as opposed to the standard 9-hole format used for regular competitions), with scores determined over 18 holes. The event is open to all golfers regardless of membership status, gender, or age. Entry is accepted by phone, fax, or email. The July guest entry fee is 7,300 JPY (tax included), which covers play, lunch, facility tax, consumption tax, and promotion fee. Scoring is conducted using the New Paria system (net handicap stableford) with women's prizes also awarded. All participants receive prizes; top 12 places (or up to 21 depending on field size) receive individual awards, with additional prizes for every third place beyond that. A special birthday prize is awarded to the participant with the closest birthday to the event date. The competition allows use of GPS devices and distance meters, and carts are available for self-play. Tee times: men use white tees, women use red tees; men aged 70+ may use gold tees, women aged 70+ may use pink tees. The course is the East and West courses at Sanko 72 Country Club in Takasaki, Gunma.

Sanko 72 Country Club is a dual-course facility located in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, featuring an East Course and a West Course, each comprising 18 holes and 72 par. Situated near the Joishi Interchange of the Joshinetsu Expressway and a short drive from Takasaki Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen, the club is known for its accessibility and minimal closure due to snow. The East Course is characterized by flat, spacious fairways and wider roughs, offering a relaxed playing experience. In contrast, the West Course presents a variety of scenarios, providing a different strategic challenge for golfers. The East Course features a par 36 layout with a total yardage of 3,357 yards from the regular tees. Notable holes include the par-5 7th at 505 yards and the par-5 15th at 517 yards, which are recommended for driving distance competitions. The 4th hole, a par 3 at 176 yards from the regular tees, is designated for nearest pin contests. The West Course also plays to par 36, with a regular tee yardage of 3,113 yards. It includes long par-5s such as the 3rd hole at 563 yards and the 16th at 512 yards, with the 7th hole recommended for driving distance. The West Course’s 2nd hole, a par 3 at 154 yards, is marked for nearest pin competitions. The facility has a history of hosting professional tournaments, having featured notable players such as Aoki, Oozaki, and E. Els. It regularly hosts open competitions for members and visitors, with various themed events and prize structures. The club includes an on-site hotel with approximately 250 rooms, a restaurant, and a large marble bath, allowing for overnight stays and full-day visits. The course is designed to accommodate both beginners and professional-oriented players, with distinct characteristics for each of its two 18-hole layouts.
