62nd Annual Southern 500 Golf Invitational

The 62nd Annual Southern 500 Golf Invitational takes place August 28-30, 2026 at Darlington Country Club in Darlington, South Carolina. This historic amateur tournament, one of the longest-running in South Carolina with over six decades of history, is held as part of the club's Centennial celebrations. The event features a Men's Division consisting of 54-hole strokeplay (August 28-30) and a Women's Division of 18-hole strokeplay (August 28). The tournament is now a South Carolina Golf Association (SCGA) Player of the Year eligible event, with the top 5 finishers earning POY points. Participants must be 18 years or older and hold a GHIN number with a handicap index. The overall men's champion must play from the blue tees, with additional tees available for older players (white for 60+, gold for 70+, red for women). Fields are pre-flighted according to handicaps and/or previous Southern 500 scores. Golf merchandise credits are awarded as prizes for up to 20% of each flight, with prize values determined by participation. All ties are broken by matching scorecards, except for the overall champion which is decided by a sudden-death playoff starting on hole 10. A practice round is available on Thursday, August 27 (contact the golf shop for times). Round 1 begins Friday, August 28 with an honorary start at 7:45 AM and first round at 8:00 AM. Rounds 2 and 3 follow on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, both starting at 8:00 AM. Lunch is provided each day of play. Evening cocktails, food, and entertainment are held at 7:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. The awards presentation takes place at 5:00 PM on Sunday. Entry fees are $350 for men and $150 for women if paid by June 1; $375/$175 if paid June 2-July 31; and $400/$200 if paid after August 1. The entry deadline is August 23. Entry forms are available as a downloadable PDF and must be returned with payment made payable to Friends of Southern 500 Junior Golf, c/o Darlington Country Club, 125 Country Club Rd, Darlington, SC 29532. The tournament supports Friends of Southern 500 Junior Golf, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit that provides instructional, educational, and financial opportunities for youth in the Darlington area to pursue golf.
