Based at Regent Park Golf Centre in Bolton, the organization was created to address a gap in the market for singles golf competitions aimed at average and mid-handicap golfers, as most existing events at the time focused on team formats and scrambles designed primarily for better players. Jacob's wife Megan later joined the business, bringing organizational expertise from her previous career in utilities to manage administration and operations. The tour operates under the motto "We Plan. You Play," emphasizing their commitment to handling all event logistics so participants can focus on their golf.

The tour organizes handicap-qualifying singles competitions at quality golf courses across Northern England, with most events concentrated in the North West but extending into Yorkshire, Wales, and the Midlands. Entry fees are structured to be more affordable than standard green fees, making competitive golf accessible to regular golfers. Green Golf Tour awards over £40,000 in prizes annually through substantial prize pots at each event, and operates an annual Order of Merit system where players accumulate points throughout the season. Events feature individual stableford competitions with bonus pairs competitions, and all rounds count for official handicap purposes.
