Tour Information
England Golf serves as the national governing body for amateur golf in England rather than operating as a competitive tour. Established to oversee approximately 1,800 affiliated golf clubs and their members, England Golf administers the World Handicap System, organizes national championships, and provides support for golf development across England. The organization manages official handicapping services for both club members and independent golfers through its iGolf platform.
For non-club members, England Golf offers iGolf subscriptions at £46 annually, providing access to an official World Handicap System handicap index through the MyEG smartphone application. This platform allows independent golfers to submit scores, track their handicap index, and obtain public liability insurance coverage without joining a traditional golf club. Members must submit a minimum of 54 holes of verified scores to establish their initial handicap, with playing partners required to digitally verify each round.
England Golf organizes prestigious national championships including the English Amateur Championship and the Brabazon Trophy, which feature stroke play qualifying followed by match play formats at top courses throughout England. The organization also coordinates county-level competitions and supports the iGolf Open Event Series, which provides tournament opportunities for iGolf subscribers at various venues nationwide.
