Airdrie Golf Club logo Airdrie Golf Club

North Lanarkshire 2 upcoming events

Airdrie Golf Club is a traditional woodland parkland course located in Rochsoles, Airdrie, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape with the Isle of Arran visible from higher elevations on clear days. The course measures a relatively short par 69, but presents a genuine test for golfers of all abilities through numerous blind tee shots and out-of-bounds hazards that feature on virtually every hole. The greens have been recently re-laid to USGA specifications and are regarded as among the best in the surrounding area, with all fairways beautifully framed by mature local woodland. The finishing stretch, comprising holes 16, 17, and 18, is notably challenging and ranks among the toughest closes in the central belt region. The clubhouse provides excellent views of the opening and closing holes. The club is known for its welcoming atmosphere and offers various flexible membership options with no joining fee currently applicable. Visitors are welcome on non-competition days.

Akenza Golf Resort

1 upcoming event

Akenza Golf Resort is a recently opened 18-hole, par 72 championship course measuring 7,150 yards from the back tees, located on the Route d'Ourika approximately 10 kilometres south of Marrakech, Morocco, at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains. It is the newest addition to the Marrakech golf scene, having opened in 2025, and takes a distinctly desert aesthetic inspired by the arid landscapes of Arizona rather than the parkland style of most of its Marrakech counterparts. The course has been designed around the natural terrain of the site, with tees set among Sahara-like sands and fairways bordered by natural dry riverbeds — known as oueds — that shift with the seasons, ensuring conditions vary from round to round. The defining structural feature is a sequence of eight holes requiring carries over rugged, yawning canyons, making it as much an adventure as a conventional golf test. Dramatic elevation changes and multiple strategic lines to the green create constant risk-and-reward decisions throughout, and the course rewards careful course management and precise shot-making over power alone. The par-5 18th is a particularly notable closing hole — a sweeping dogleg with water running the full length of the right side. As a very new facility, the course is still maturing, with vegetation and infrastructure continuing to develop. The Atlas Mountains provide a constant and striking backdrop, and the resort's overall identity is built around the contrast between raw desert landscape and championship-quality playing surfaces.

Al Maaden Golf Resort

1 upcoming event

Al Maaden Golf Resort is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course measuring 6,569 metres (7,184 yards), situated on the outskirts of Marrakech, Morocco, with the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. Created in 2010 by the Alliances Group, one of Morocco's largest real estate developers, the course was established as the centrepiece of a luxury residential and resort development. It was designed by Kyle Phillips, the architect behind Kingsbarns in Scotland, who brought a distinctly Scottish sensibility to the Moroccan landscape, blending the spirit of the traditional oasis with links-influenced design principles. The layout occupies hilly countryside at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, alternating between plains and more sculpted landforms, with a wooded setting of palm trees, cypress, and almond trees framing the fairways. The course is notable for wide, generous fairways complemented by strategically placed bunkers that offer multiple lines of play and a strong risk-and-reward character. Water features prominently, but Al Maaden's most distinctive visual element is its series of rectangular pools — designed as a deliberate homage to the geometric Menara gardens of Marrakech — which give the course an unusually formal, architectural quality alongside its natural terrain. The resort also houses a sculpture park incorporating 12 monumental works of art positioned throughout the course, making it one of the more culturally distinctive golf venues in Africa. The course has hosted Ladies European Tour qualifying events and professional competitions, and is regarded as one of the leading modern courses in Morocco.

Al Zorah Golf Club

Ajman Emirate 1 upcoming event

Al Zorah Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course located in the Emirate of Ajman, approximately 25 minutes from Dubai International Airport. Opened in December 2015, it was the first golf course in Ajman and the first Nicklaus Design layout in the UAE. The course was designed by Nicklaus Design senior associate Dirk Bouts and stretches to 7,169 yards from the back tees, with paspalum grass fairways and greens throughout. The course is set within over one million square metres of protected mangrove landscape alongside 12 kilometres of coastline, giving it a distinctly natural character uncommon among desert golf venues. A unique feature is the tidal system that affects several holes, with water levels rising and falling during the day, subtly altering the challenge from morning to afternoon rounds. The layout incorporates 10 par-4s, four par-5s and four par-3s, with two lakes also coming into play. Signature holes include the par-3 6th, which plays over a lagoon to a peninsula green, and the par-5 15th, a double dogleg with water in play throughout. The par-4 13th on the back nine, rated stroke index 2, features water running the full length of the left side. Managed by Troon Golf and GEO-certified for environmental sustainability, the course is noted for generous fairways that reward strategic positioning over raw power.

Aquella Golf & Country Club

1 upcoming event

Aquella Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course measuring 7,008 yards, situated along the Andaman Sea coastline at Thai Muang Beach in Phang Nga province, approximately 40 minutes north of Phuket International Airport in southern Thailand. The course opened in 2021, designed by Australian firm Pacific Coast Design on the former site of the Thai Muang Golf Course, which had been closed for nine years, though only around 30% of the new routing follows the original layout. The course occupies 177 hectares of coastal terrain, with narrow, gently rolling fairways carpeted in Platinum Paspalum grass, intersected by natural waterways and tidal lakes that change in appearance throughout the day. Bunkering is a distinctive visual feature throughout, with the faces of the sand traps constructed from vintage wooden railway sleepers. The layout weaves through a combination of open coastal ground and wooded areas, with the designers retaining significant mature trees from the site's previous jungle growth to give the course an established character. Water comes into play on most holes, though the design offers multiple strategic routes, giving golfers the choice of taking on the hazards or laying up safely. The signature hole is the par-3 11th, a 186-yard hole played directly beside the beach with panoramic views and the sounds of the Andaman Sea from every tee position. A notable design detail is the use of bamboo tunnels as transit routes between certain holes, which create a sensory transition by briefly obscuring views before opening onto a new perspective. The course has two well-balanced nine-hole loops and plays from a minimum of three tee positions on each hole.

The course measures 5,184 yards with a par of 67, opened in June 2000, and has undergone refinements including green relocations, additional bunkers, and matured tree plantings that define the layout. Twelve holes feature out-of-bounds, and most holes are doglegs where positional accuracy from the tee is prioritized over distance. The greens are notably quick with subtle breaks. The opening six holes are particularly demanding, followed by holes 11-14, known as "Ballumbie's Amen Corner," which form another testing stretch. The varied terrain requires use of most clubs in the bag, with drivers often unnecessary, particularly on the opening holes. The course accommodates both casual play and club outings, featuring a clubhouse with food and beverage facilities, locker rooms, showers, and an adjacent Toptracer driving range. Ballyshear Golf Links

Ballyshear Golf Links is an 18-hole, par-71 course located at Ban Rakat Club in Samut Prakan province, approximately 40 minutes east of Bangkok and 25 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Designed by American architect Gil Hanse and opened for member play in 2021, the course is a deliberate homage to The Lido Golf Club — the celebrated Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor design from 1917 that closed during World War II and is widely regarded as one of golf's great lost courses. Hanse structured Ballyshear around the same principle as The Lido, basing each hole on a classical "template" from golf's heritage. The Redan at North Berwick is echoed in the 16th, the Eden hole from St Andrews appears at the 3rd, a Biarritz-style green bisected by a gully defines the 8th, and a blind Alps approach modelled on Prestwick's 17th features at the 10th. The 606-yard 4th, nicknamed "The Channel," presents two fairways separated by water and sandy waste. Set on flat former rice paddy land, the course achieves an authentic links character through firm, fast playing surfaces, angular greens, extensive bunkering, and wide sandy areas. At around 7,085–7,100 yards from the back tees, it rewards strategic shot-making and ground game management over pure power. The clubhouse was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. No notable professional tournament history is on record for the venue.
