Pinehurst Course No.1

NC

Originally designed and built by Dr. Leroy Culver and later enhanced by both John Dunn Tucker and Donald Ross, Pinehurst No. 1 is located in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The par-70 course spans slightly more than 6,000 yards, offering a mix of challenging and rewarding holes, with wide fairways and lots of birdie opportunities. The course was cut from the land without the use of bulldozers, so it features minimal grading changes. The course's layout demands precision and thoughtful shot placement, with undulating greens and well-placed hazards that reflect Ross's design philosophy. Despite its modest length, don't let the short layout give a false sense of confidence—No. 1 can be more imposing than it first appears, as wild drives or a sloppy short game can make for a long day. The course is beautifully integrated into the natural landscape, featuring towering pines and a serene parkland setting. The No. 1 course is a classic due to not only its age, but also its appeal to golfers of all skill levels. While detailed tournament history for No. 1 specifically is limited, the broader Pinehurst Resort has hosted numerous major championships throughout its history.

Pinehurst Course No.7

NC

Designed by Rees Jones, Pinehurst No. 7 opened in 1986 and underwent renovations in 2002. Comprised of two out and back loops, No. 7 is a par 72 course and clocks in at 7,216 yards. The course features some of the most rugged land in Pinehurst Village, including 75 bunkers and 25 acres of wetlands, with large and undulating greens and more elevation changes than any other Pinehurst course, with 13 of the greens being elevated. The course presents a significant challenge with consistent elevation changes throughout the round. Tee shots are generally downhill, approach shots are usually uphill, and Jones' routing takes on a steady rhythm that makes No. 7 a joy to play. Notable features include the "Devil's Gut," a large expanse of wetlands on the short, par-four seventh that your approach must clear. There's also the double-dogleg, par-five 12th with an elevated green surrounded by trees and underbrush. At the 1992 Big I Junior Classic, it became the site of Tiger Woods' only Pinehurst victory. The course is located approximately a mile from the main resort clubhouse and features its own practice facilities. Jones incorporated the area's rugged terrain into the design, making No. 7 one of Pinehurst's longest and biggest tests for any golfer.

NC 2 upcoming events

Pinehurst No. 2 is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 7,020 yards, designed by Donald Ross and completed in 1907. The course is located in the North Carolina Sandhills, situated within a resort setting featuring multiple courses. The course is known for its iconic sloped turtleback greens and wide fairways with native wiregrass and sand. A restoration project completed by Coore & Crenshaw in 2011 reestablished the course's design attributes, and there is no rough on the entire course. The greens have been called the best complexes ever built, with hollows and undulations created around them like those found on Scottish links. The famous domed greens look big, but the effective landing areas are small with the slightest miscalculation being punished to the fullest extent. The course presents a significant challenge requiring precision and strategic shot-making across all aspects of play. The course has hosted five men's majors including the 1936 PGA Championship and U.S. Opens in 1999, 2005, 2014, and 2024, with additional U.S. Opens scheduled for 2029, 2035, 2041, and 2047. Pines Course

NJ

The 18-hole Pines course at the Seaview facility in Galloway features 6,731 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The Pines Course opened in 1929 and was designed by William Flynn and Howard Toomey. Unlike the Bay Course, the Pines winds its way through New Jersey woodlands, presenting elevation changes and bountiful doglegs. William Flynn designed the first nine holes in 1929 while another nine holes were added to complete the eighteen hole circuit in 1957. The golf course has tight fairways lined with trees, medium-sized greens that are undulating, and strategically placed bunkers. The signature hole, number 9, is a 510-yard par 5 that presents the only water hazard on the entire course. Tee shots must avoid the trees that line both sides of the fairway. Second shots must safely navigate over the hole's only water hazard. Because it's an older course, the layout is really traditional with a lot of doglegs and narrow fairways, no gimmicks, just old fashioned golf. Some golfers prefer the Pines course because of its quiet location behind the resort's hotel and also because of its more challenging features. The course is situated in a resort setting near Atlantic City and is open to the public, offering a blend of strategic play and traditional golf design that appeals to a wide range of skill levels.

The natural landscape is enhanced by abundant wildlife, including rare bird species and native Australian kangaroos.
