Originally an 18-hole links course, the club has undergone significant changes due to expansion by Wellington International Airport. In 2019, the membership voted to sell 12.9 hectares covering the back nine holes to the airport, with full takeover occurring on 1 January 2025, reducing the course to nine holes-matching the club's original configuration from 1908. The course is set on links land adjacent to the airport. Despite the reduction in holes, the club is positioning itself to grow golf through non-traditional formats within the Eastern Suburbs community. The course has a long history of member engagement and competitive programming, with established men's, women's, and junior programmes. The remaining nine-hole layout will serve members and visitors moving forward.
