Birney on rolling land adjacent to the Neuse River. The course was built in 1969. The course length is 6,448 yards. Five sets of tees accommodate players of every age and skill level. The club is located on 253 acres of land fronting the Neuse River. The land was donated by the family of Mrs. N. W. Hardison. The original concept for a golf course in this area was proposed by the Research Institute of East Carolina University, and the club was chartered as the Minnesott Recreational Development Corp., with organizational meetings beginning in September 1967. The course is open to the public.
