Suðurnes
Kálfatjarnarvöllur is a nine-hole golf course located in the Vatnsleysustrandir area of Reykjavík, Iceland. The layout features a mix of par 3, par 4, and par 5 holes, with yardages ranging from a short 100-meter par 3 to a 459-meter par 5. The course is characterized by its rugged natural terrain, heavily influenced by the surrounding lava fields and rocky outcrops typical of the region. The front nine includes a demanding par 4, the 2nd hole "Utangarðs," which stretches 311 meters and is flanked by a rock garden on the right and a boundary fence on the left. The 3rd hole, "Klöpp," is a 100-meter par 3 where the green is surrounded by hazards and features significant slope. The 4th hole, "Kría," is a 326-meter par 4 described as very difficult, with hazards on both sides of the fairway and a sloping green. The back nine offers longer challenges, including two par 5s. The 5th hole, "Goðhóll," is a 459-meter hole that requires a drive of over 100 meters to clear initial hazards, with a narrow, sloping green protected by a pond and white rocks. The 6th hole, "Kirkjubraut," is a 455-meter par 5 that provides expansive views of the Reykjanes Peninsula, Snæfellsnes, and the Reykjavík area. The 7th hole, "Krosshóll," is a 326-meter par 4 noted for its landscape and views, with a blind second shot over a pond and hills. The course is known for its challenging nature, with hazards such as lava rocks, ponds, and steep slopes protecting the greens throughout. The 9th hole, "Harðhaus," completes the round. The course is managed by the Golfklúbbur Vatnsleysustrandar (GVS), which hosts various internal tournaments and events throughout the year.
