Zwartkop Country Club is a classic parkland golf course founded in 1933, making it one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs in the Pretoria area. Located in Lyttelton, the course features mature trees lining the fairways with a river that comes into play throughout the round, presenting a beautiful and challenging layout characteristic of traditional parkland design.
The course has hosted numerous significant professional tournaments, including the 1955 SA Open—the only one ever played in Pretoria—and the ICL International, a regular Sunshine Tour event during the 1980s. The club has welcomed some of golf's greatest players, including Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, and Nick Faldo, who have competed on or visited the course during its storied history.
Beyond the championship layout, Zwartkop offers a range of facilities including a golf academy, the Golf Management Campus for instruction, a driving range, and various social amenities. The club emphasizes providing golfers with a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining the traditions and history of the game, catering to both competitive players and recreational golfers.
