Woods Hole Golf Club is a historic private course located in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. Founded in the late 19th century by Falmouth summer residents, it ranks among the oldest private clubs on the Cape, with only Barnstable's Cummaquid Golf Club (1895) predating it. The course was expanded to 18 holes by 1919 and underwent renovation that year, garnering attention from major golf publications. The layout features strategically placed bunkers filled with fine sand characteristic of Cape Cod, presenting significant challenge in recovery play. A signature characteristic of the course is its scenic location at the edge of Buzzards Bay, with at least one green situated just yards from a white sand beach. The setting offers cooling breezes from multiple directions across its elevated position at the highest point of land in the locality. The club has a notable history, hosting U.S. Open champion Francis Ouimet for the inaugural round on the redesigned 1919 course, and establishing a prestigious caddy camp in 1929 that became one of the country's best, initially housing 56 boys annually.
