Wailua Golf Course

Wailua Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course located 3 miles north of Lihue Airport on Kauai's Highway 56. Originally built as a nine-hole course in the 1930s, the second nine holes were added in 1961 by designer Toyo Shirai. The course plays to a par 72 with yardages ranging from 4,996 yards (gold tees) to 6,961 yards (blue tees).

The course has earned significant recognition, hosting three USGA Amateur Public Links Championships and receiving rankings as one of Hawaii's best 15 courses by Golf Digest and the #3 course in Hawaii by The Golf Channel. The layout features varied terrain with par 3s, 4s, and 5s distributed across both nines, with notable holes including the 535-yard par 5 opening hole and the challenging 456-yard par 4 second hole.

Wailua offers comprehensive facilities including a golf shop, locker rooms with showers, driving range, putting green, chipping green, and practice bunker. The course accommodates golfers of all skill levels with multiple tee options and encourages beginners and slower players to start after noon. Twilight play options are available both morning and afternoon.
