Vermilion Fairways is a 9-hole, par-36 golf course located 4.2 miles north of Cook, Minnesota, spanning 3,245 yards. Situated near the scenic Lake Vermilion region, the course is surrounded by pristine wilderness within 10 miles of multiple lakeside accommodations. The course sits adjacent to Kabetogama State Forest, home to black bears, moose, and timber wolves.

Designed as a beginner-friendly layout, the course features wide, relatively flat bent grass fairways that provide ample landing areas for tee shots. Large bent grass greens with moderate speed accommodate pitch-and-run approach shots. The mostly flat greens include occasional undulations to introduce beginners to contoured putting surfaces. The course is characterized by its accessible difficulty level, making it ideal for developing golfers while remaining enjoyable for players of all skill levels.

Amenities include 100 and 150-yard distance markers, a multi-target driving range, chipping area, and practice putting green. The semi-private course operates mid-April through late September and offers gas-powered cart and pull cart rentals, along with clubhouse food and beverage service.
