Toukley Golf Club is located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, approximately halfway between Sydney and Newcastle, situated on bushland adjoining scenic Budgewoi Lake. The 18-hole championship course measures 6,156 metres and features a unique dual-layout design. The front nine holes are tree-lined on both sides of the fairways, providing a more enclosed playing environment, while the back nine holes offer open, exposed conditions with a links-style character exposed to the wind.

The setting is notable for its natural habitat, being one of only seven breeding sites in the region for sea eagles, reflected in the club's logo. The area is also home to abundant native bird species. The course is frequently described as friendly and welcoming, catering to public players, members, ladies, juniors, and social groups. The combination of contrasting front and back nine layouts creates varying difficulty levels and strategic challenges throughout the round, with the open links-style back nine presenting distinct playing characteristics compared to the tree-sheltered front nine.
