Totsuka Country Club is a dual-course facility located in Asahi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. The property features two distinct 18-hole layouts: the West Course, designed by Seiichi Inoue, and the East Course, designed by Sadakichi Mano. The West Course, which opened in 1963, is a 7,261-yard championship layout featuring a unique "one-green" system with A and P greens. It is set on a gentle southeastern slope and is surrounded by approximately 20,000 self-planted pine and cherry trees. The East Course, completed a year earlier in 1962, spans a more compact distance and is built on the ridge line that historically separated the provinces of Sagami and Musashi. The West Course is renowned for its strategic design and high-quality putting surfaces, which have drawn praise from golf legends such as Gary Player. The layout offers distant views of Mount Fuji from the starting holes and is characterized by elegant undulations and a design philosophy that balances difficulty with fairness. The course hosted the 2005 Japan LPGA Tour Championship, the Japanese Women's Open, where Ai Miyazato claimed victory. The East Course, by contrast, retains a more traditional, hand-crafted character that respects the original terrain, offering a different strategic challenge compared to the longer West Course. Both courses are maintained to high standards, with the West Course utilizing electromagnetic induction carts to manage pace of play and course conditions. The facility caters to a range of players, with the East Course often serving as a preferred option for those seeking a shorter, more technical round, while the West Course provides a full-length test for serious competitors.
