Located in Sayama, Saitama Prefecture, the Tokyo Golf Club is a private 18-hole facility that operates with two distinct sets of tees and greens, known as the Asaka and Chichibu courses. The layout was originally designed by Komei Otani, with the Chichibu course later modified by architect Gil Hanse. The course is set in a landscape that includes rolling terrain and mature trees, with the club situated near the confluence of the Arakawa and Tone rivers. The Asaka course plays to a par of 72 with a course rating of 74.3, while the Chichibu course also plays to par 72 but with a slightly lower rating of 73.3. Yardages vary significantly by tee box, with the Asaka front nine ranging from 368 yards on the longest par 4 to 138 yards on the par 3 fourth hole. The back nine features a demanding 585-yard fifth hole and a 603-yard thirteenth hole, both playing as par 5s. The Chichibu course mirrors this structure, with yardages generally running slightly shorter, such as the 536-yard fifth and 590-yard thirteenth. The club holds a significant place in Japanese golf history, having been founded in 1913 in Komazawa, Tokyo, as the first Japanese-owned golf club. It moved to Asaka in 1932 under the design of C.H. Alison and then to its current location in 1940 following a merger with the Chichibu Country Club. The facility has hosted the Japanese Open Championship eight times, most recently in 2024, and has also held the Japanese Amateur Championship. The course features Bentgrass greens, a change implemented in 1988, and includes a clubhouse designed by architect Antonin Raymond.
