The Tamaracks Golf Course is an 18-hole championship layout located in Harrison, Michigan. Originally opened as a 9-hole course in 1981 by the Hawkins family, it expanded to its current 18-hole configuration in 1991. The par-71 course stretches just under 6,000 yards and was designed by Stephen Hawkins.
The course is characterized by challenging shot-making demands, with trees lining every fairway and water hazards present on approximately half the holes. The greens vary considerably in size and difficulty. Despite its relatively modest yardage, the layout plays substantially tougher due to its strategic design features. The course maintains pristine conditioning and offers a country club atmosphere with park-like rough areas that allow recovery from errant shots.
The Tamaracks remains family-owned and maintained by the Hawkins and Ashcraft families. It serves as a true shot maker's course where accuracy from the tee is paramount to scoring success, while still providing playability for golfers of varying skill levels.
