The Royal ☆ Follow

The Royal is an 18-hole championship golf course located at Canadian Lakes, a private community in central Michigan near Stanwood. Opened in 1972, the course measures 6,867 yards with a par of 73 from the longest tees and features a course rating of 73.8 with a slope rating of 131. The layout comprises two distinct nines: the Royal North (front nine) features a more open design with strategic bunkering to challenge tee shots and approach shots, while the Royal South (back nine) is carved through forest with four water holes and three short par-5s.

The course is designed to accommodate players of all skill levels, with four sets of tees ranging from 6,867 yards to 4,903 yards. The layout features rolling fairways weaving through Michigan's woodlands with natural hazards including water features and mature trees lining many fairways and greens. Sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the course.

Facilities include The Royal Pro Shop offering equipment and apparel, as well as The Royal Grille restaurant and lounge overlooking the 18th green. A large practice putting green with a short-game practice area is conveniently located near the pro shop. As a private course within the Canadian Lakes community, it is considered the championship layout among the facility's 36-hole offerings.
