The Ledges is a challenging woodland golf course located in Roscoe, Illinois, originally built as a private course in 1966 before being acquired by the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County District in 1978. The course features a traditional layout with 18 holes designed to test golfers' accuracy and skill through strategic placement of fairway bunkers and sand traps. Water hazards are present on 10 holes, adding to the course's difficulty.

The Ledges offers three tee options: Blue tees play to 6,649 yards with a slope of 132 and rating of 72.1; White tees measure 6,304 yards with a slope of 128 and rating of 70.5; and Gold tees span 5,617 yards with a slope of 120 and rating of 67.4. The course demands versatile shot-making and often requires golfers to use their complete set of clubs. The opening hole exemplifies the course's character—a par-4 that demands accuracy off the tee between pine trees, with a short iron approach to a receptive green.
