Designed by Kevin Aldridge, The Gailes is an 18-hole, par-72 links-style course located in Oscoda, Michigan, that recreates the aesthetic of Scotland's seaside golf courses. The course features championship tees at 6,954 yards with multiple tee options accommodating various skill levels down to 5,246 yards.

The Gailes incorporates authentic Scottish links design elements including large double greens, meandering berms, sod-faced pot bunkers, and long fescue grasses. The 10th hole exemplifies the course's character—a 348-yard par-4 presenting significant challenge through seven deep bunkers, thick knee-high fescue rough, and a meandering burn along the left. Lake Huron's winds add unpredictability to play.

The course's terrain and design create genuine links golf difficulty, with hazards strategically positioned to penalize imprecise shot placement. The routing balances par-3s, par-4s, and par-5s throughout the eighteen holes, with the most challenging handicap holes being the 459-yard par-4 fifth hole and the 489-yard par-4 thirteenth hole. The landscape and strategic bunkering demand precision and course management, offering an authentic seaside golf experience in Michigan.
