The South Course is a Press Maxwell design built in 1954, situated among acres of large oak trees with Tif-Eagle Super Dwarf Bermuda greens and heavily tree-lined Bermuda fairways. The course features 18 holes with a par of 71 and measures 6,721 yards, with a course rating of 72.8 and slope rating of 128.

The South Course appeals to the traditional golfer and while there are very few trees on the South Course unlike most area courses, it still demands accuracy with plentiful fairway and greenside bunkers. The South Course is the more player-friendly of the two courses at the club, though both provide a good game for all skill levels.

The Club at Sonterra is a private golf and tennis country club located in the North Central Corridor of San Antonio, just 10 minutes from San Antonio International Airport and 20 minutes from downtown. The club is one of only two area courses with the ability to host events large enough that require 36 holes.
