The Carrick Golf Course is an 18-hole championship layout situated on the western shore of Loch Lomond in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, set within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park — the first golf course to be built within a Scottish national park. The course was developed by the De Vere Group as part of the Cameron House resort and opened in 2007. It was designed by Canadian architect Doug Carrick, after whom the course is named, and represented his first major design project in the United Kingdom. From the championship tees the course measures around 7,082 yards and plays to a par of 71, with five sets of tee positions extending down to 5,200 yards to accommodate golfers of varying abilities.
One of the course's most distinctive geographical features is that it straddles the Highland Boundary Fault, with the front nine played on relatively flat lowland ground incorporating inland lagoons and water hazards, while the back nine climbs onto higher Highland heathland before descending to the loch's edge for the closing stretch. Views of Ben Lomond and the surrounding mountains are prominent on the front nine, while several back nine holes offer elevated panoramas across Loch Lomond. The par-three 14th, known as Tappet Doon, plays from a tee some 60 feet above the green on the most northerly point of the property and is widely regarded as the course's signature hole. The layout features around 118 bunkers throughout, contributing to its strategic complexity. During construction, archaeologists from the University of Glasgow uncovered significant Bronze and Iron Age artefacts on site, representing the most important archaeological finds in western Scotland to date.
The Carrick has hosted the Ladies Scottish Open and the PGA Cup among other events. The wider Cameron House resort, which includes the historic baronial hotel on the loch shore approximately two miles from the golf course, also offers the nine-hole Wee Demon course as a shorter alternative.
