The Cairns Golf Course is a links-designed 9-hole golf course with two tee blocks per green, allowing players to complete a full 18-hole round. The course plays to a par of 36. The course was built to fit the landscape and character of the Mackenzie Country, using natural features and contours of the land, with views overlooking Lake Tekapo and the Southern Alps.
The panoramic views of mountains, tussock plains, and Lake Tekapo's famous blue lake make it difficult to keep focus on the game. The course was built in 2012, and its scenic alpine setting in the high country presents a challenging yet visually spectacular playing experience. The strategic layout presents golfers with strategic decision-making opportunities across the nine holes.
Located in the Mackenzie Region near Lake Tekapo, the course operates as both a resort facility and a public access course. Golf is complimentary with accommodation bookings at The Cairns, or available for a green fee to visitors not staying at the resort. The facility offers golf equipment rental and cart services to accommodate players of all capabilities.
