Tama Country Club is a 7,120-yard, par-72 course located in Inagi, Tokyo. Designed by Koji Yasuda, the 18-hole layout opened in 1962 and spans 480,000 square meters. The course is classified as a hilly track, yet its design eschews the dramatic valley crossings typical of the terrain type, favoring wide, flat fairways instead. The playing experience is defined by subtle undulations rather than severe elevation changes. The fairways are broad and open, removing the need for precise driving accuracy that often dictates play on more rugged layouts. The primary challenge comes from the putting surfaces, which feature nuanced slopes that demand careful reading and precise distance control. The course features two sets of tees for most holes, offering different yardages and strategic options. The back tees stretch the course to 7,120 yards, while the regular tees play at 6,404 yards. The par structure includes four par-3s, eight par-4s, and four par-5s. The front nine totals 3,335 yards from the back tees, while the back nine measures 3,407 yards, creating a balanced but demanding round. Notable holes include the long par-5 17th, which plays 609 yards from the back tees, and the 5th hole, which measures 531 yards. The par-3s provide variety in distance, ranging from the short 6th hole at 151 yards to the 12th at 174 yards. The course has hosted significant events, including the first Chairman's Cup in 1967 and a televised match between Sam Snead and Toru Nakamura in 1976. The course was officially rated by the Japan Golf Association with a rating of 70.4 in 1974, later updated to 71.2 in 2003.
